Selected Size5x7 Inches • $9.50
Thoroughbreds by Coles Phillips sets an elegant equestrian woman among horses and a white picket fence, using the illustrator's celebrated negative-space technique to let figures emerge from a luminous yellow-gold ground. The reins, riding crop, tailored silhouette, and alert white horse give this 1911 image its poised sporting character.
